The 100,000 signature mark has been passed in the campaign to Recall Gov Gray Davis, the worst governor in California's history. They said it could not be done, but that much has been done and the campaign is now paying 200 circulators to gather signatures.
The Los Angeles Daily News of May 3, 2003 carried the story on the 100,000 milestone at:
http://www.davisrecall.com/news/rel_details.cfm?prid=PR030504A The deadline is Sept. 2.
Should the recall make the ballot, I expect the progressive community to have candidates for governor, both Red and Green. It is not necessary or wise for any progressive organization to endorse the recall drive or officially participate in it, although lots of us are going to or already have signed the recall petition. It is, however, necessary that the Reds and Greens each run a candidate for governor should the recall make the ballot.
All aboard the Recall Gray Davis train! It is time to put an end to the prisons instead of schools agenda that constitutes the program of that good Democrat Gov. Gray Davis, and good riddance to his worthless Democratic Party too. No matter who gets in office, if they do not deliver the goods and services to the workingclass, we will continue to scream until they do.
