A poster below suggested the US was aiding the Taliban.
The reality is the US was aiding NGO's (non-governmental organizations) in providing humanitarian relief to the Taliban's victims.
While working to end the Taliban's regime -- all before 9/11/01. http://www.refugees.org/news/press_releases/2001/020701.cfm February 7, 2001 "Last week, the United States, already the largest provider of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan (despite also being the main advocate of international sanctions against Afghanistan's ruling Taliban group), announced that it would provide an additional $39 million in food aid for Afghans in need."

Yes, General Bowel, you're full of crap! http://www.afghan-info.com/News/US_Aid.htm#USwheat Skip to the last paragraph if your ADHD: ISLAMABAD, July 16 (AFP) - Some 75,200 tonnes of US wheat is expected to arrive in Afghanistan but the emergency aid will feed only a fraction of the five million Afghans without food, the UN food agency said Monday. The World Food Programme (WFP) said Afghanistan was still 1.4 million tonnes of cereal short, and five million Afghans "have little or no access to food" due to a severe drought and the ongoing civil war. "The situation in Afghanistan is nothing short of a major crisis," said WFP country director Gerard Van Dijk. "WFP is distributing more than 20,000 tonnes of food in Afghanistan each month and we will have to increase this quantity to cope with the ever growing food insecurity in an economy shattered by drought and conflict." The US wheat, worth about 32.8 million dollars, was expected to arrive in Pakistani and Iranian ports this week, the WFP said in a statement. Washington has now given more than 105 million dollars worth of food to the WFP's emergency operations in Afghanistan since August last year. The United States, which co-sponsored a UN arms embargo and diplomatic sanctions against the ruling Taliban Islamic militia earlier this year, is the largest humanitarian aid donor to the strife-torn country.

Reality Bites: US Gives $43 Million to Afgahnistan, May 17, 2001: http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/05/17/us.afghanistan.aid/ While U.S. officials cited the drought as the major factor for the deepening humanitarian crisis, the members of the delegation said that Afghanistan's ruling Taliban's regime and the security problems it presents, hinders access and contributed to the situation. The U.N. Security Council imposed sanctions against the Taliban in an effort to pressure the militia to hand over Saudi exile Osama bin Laden, who is accused of bombing two U.S. embassies in Africa. Humanitarian aid is allowed. Powell said the U.S. aid is administered by the United Nations and non-governmental organizations, and bypasses the Taliban, "who have done little to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people, and indeed have done much to exacerbate it." The sum brings U.S. assistance to $124.2 million for this year, making the United States the largest Afghan donor for the second year in a row.

The evil, capitalist, imperialist United States of Amerikkka feeds the world. . . while the former Soviet Union goes a-begging and President Mugabe starves his people.
You can be dismissive if you like. . . but if you're not part of the solution. . . you're part of the problem!

LG - The left wing radicals who hang out here are severely brain damaged. You can't reason with them. Don't even try.
Afghanistan is one of the reasons GW Bush will go down in history as one of our greatest Presidents. Iraq is another.
It's great to have one of the top five Presidents on the heels of the very worst ever President. What a huge contrast.

Afghanistan? Oh, you mean the Karzai puppet government, which only has enough power to rule Kabul? The REST of the country is ruled by tribal warlords. Thanks Bush! Great job! Bush Admirer, have you ever considered a career as White House Press Secretary?

sort thier lives out. Bloody hell, I'm so sick of hearing about all these fucked up countries. They got an opportunity to start afresh and they're fucking it up.
The US can't be held responsible for all the corruption igonorance greed and ineptness in the world.
The US has done more in the last century to combat the forces of darkness in the human condition than any other nation.

Certain foreign newspapers have said that we fell on Austria with brutal methods. I can only say; even in death they cannot stop lying. I have in the course of my political struggle won much love from my people, but when I crossed the former frontier [into Austria] there met me such a stream of love as I have never experienced. Not as tyrants have we come, but as liberators. --Adolf Hitler

He has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harass our People...depriving us, in many Cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury ... He has plundered our Seas, ravaged our Coasts ... He is, at this Time, transporting large Armies .... to complete the Works of Death, Desolation and Tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and Perfidy, scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous Ages, and totally unworthy of the Head of a civilized Nation.
