photos from baghdad seem to show thousands and thousands of Iraqis tearing down the statue of Saddam. However, BBC photos reveal that there were at most only a couple hundred people there and that includes US troops!
Friends, I am appalled by the propaganda coming out of Iraq right now. The photos and news stories make it seem as if millions of Iraqis took to the streets of Baghdad to welcome US and UK troops. This is not the case. Here is a link to a photo, a photo taken form a roof top which show how few people were actually there to "dance" on top of that statue. This propaganda (half truths) makes me sick. Spread this link far and wide please. The anti-war marches must go on. This photo is from the BBC. this is truly appalling that the US government is comparing these dozens of people to the Berlin Wall and the peaceful demise of that government by thousands and thousands of people. http://nyc.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=55268&group=webcast Again, spread this far and wide. Resist propaganda. Peace, NYC

Can this be the same "Free" Press that consistently under-reported the size of Anti-War Demonstrations?

Uh, junior, you've shown a still photograph.
If you show a still photograph, you are capturing one instant in time.
For instance, if you took a still photograph in front of Macy's at 5:00 A.M. on Thanksgiving Day you wouldn't see any floats. But just a couple of hours later, hundreds of floats and hundreds of thousands of people would be on the street.
By your reasoning, your 'truth', a picture taken in front of Macy's sans floats proves that no parade took place.
You want so desperately to believe that you aren't on the wrong side in this war that you clutch at straws. What's next? Are all the Iraqis that we see celebrating actors? Or graphically created? You are pitiable.

News I heard never even suggested large crowds.
Perhaps the foto fakers were the same ones who faked all those Airport fotos.
Perhaps the groups you heard had the same crowd coutners the anti wa/pro-baathist demonstrations int he US used.
In the end my friend NYC is trying to make a story where none existing: "foto reveals crowd is same size as media stated.".

I think they're right. As a matter of fact, the protestors weren't even people.
They are life-size marionettes, run from the skies over Baghdad by Special Operations Command's elite Puppeteer Corps flying in specially-modified Blackhawk helicopters, in a brilliant PSYOPS campaign to lure unsuspecting Iraqi civilians into revolt.

So, now the people of Iraq are unhappy about Saddam being cast out of power. And since millions didn't show up to pull down a statue, that means they really wanted him around.
It's just a matter of time until other truths are slayed at the alter of liberalism. Should LA-IMC last 5 more years, you'll see posts claiming (with all sincerity by the posters of such blather) that the US intentionally sought out civilian women and children to shoot, that the US military carpet bombed Baghdad, that anywhere between 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 civilians were killed by the US military in the first 3 weeks of the war, that terrorists went on a killing rampage here on the US mainland, that the polls showed that 90% of the population was against liberating Iraq, that there were upwards of 3-4 million protesters in LA at every protest, etc, etc, ad nausaum.
When you can't win, you just gotta dream up your own reality. It's starting even now. It'll only grow worse and be even more enhanced.

Since we were told by the protesters that for every one person who showed up at the marches they represented another 10,000 wh couldn't make it, then it will be noted that for every 50,000 Iraqi citizens who were not willing to venture into Iraqi streets where the last remnant of Saddam supporters would shoot and kill them, there was one individual who was there representing them. Do the math.

Actually, Fresca, the whole Middle East doesn't really exist.
Everything we see from "Iraq" is actually shot at a secret location in the remote Southwest. The whole purpose is to occupy the imagination of the working classes so that they cannot see the nefarious plotters who are really running things.

Have you looked at the photos of the supposedly "happy" Iraqis welcoming the troops? Most have been doctored or in some manner staged. Doesn't this give you a clue?
These people are scared, frightened and don't have a clue. At this point, they most likely would welcome the Rapture. It would not matter who or what came into this country. Yes, Saddam was bad and evil and there really are no words awful enough to describe him. But what we are doing? Is it that much better?
We have burned their homes, killed and maimed them and destroy their country. Then some asshole Marine puts a flag on a statute of Saddam. Not exacty my idea of a latter day Raising of the flag at Iwo Jima.
The Middle East does NOT want the American there. If we insist on remaining, this will not be the only war we will fight. Have you considered that one of these Middle Eastern countries might just get pissed off enough to strike first, use nuclear weapons, bio-warfare, etc.
WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING? Have you no clue. Are you some lame brain who barfs out the ideology that unless one supports the war, one cannot be patriotic? OPEN YOU EYES.

Another lie. The general public are not swallowing your "doctored photo" nonsense. They know better. Besides that, most of them are not even aware of your accusations. It's reached its peak of believers. A few years ago with the main stream media in your back pocket you might have gotten away with it, doubt it, but maybe. Too many checks and balances now. In the world of public opinion, the American public knows better than to buy this crap, and they won't.

Maybe so - maybe there's propaganda. But it seems you're not too crazily above dirty tricks either.
One of them is playing down the goddam obvious fact that for a great majority in Iraq, the worst psycho in Iraq's history is gone. Someone who had had the power and "right" to make their lives veritable hell with impunity is no more. Does it really take a novelist's imagination to realize that a horror has ended for over 20 mil people?
All you're capable of doing is fixate on the potentially not-too-noble aspects of how that was achieved.
You're sick of the propaganda? I'm sick of your cavil-infested mind, with zero ability to recognize obvious achiements. I wonder how well you yourself would do, given similar challenges.
