War for the rest of your lives

Endless war

When the Soviets collapsed under the weight of the arms race in the 90s there was much talk of a peace dividend and finally a potential for peace to replace the incessant wars of the 20th century. These wars made a few extremely wealthy and doomed billions of human beings to a gut wrenching poverty. With the appointment of the Bush gang to the American presidency, and the neo-con strategy of establishing corporate control over all aspects of life America has turned her back on peaceful coexistence among her neighbors on the planet. Add to this the bizarre pseudo-religious crusade that forms the Bushites core philosophy and one can easily surmise the bleakness of their visions future

This new phase of the endless war is a nightmarish herald for the 21st century. As the forces of capitalist hegemony and oil-baron mercenary armies and henchmen swarm into Iraq they seek to continue the violent debacles of the 20th century. Like a vampire these forces will bleed the earth of its lifeforce. They seek to impose their rule regardless of important lessons learned from the last century’s endless wars. Co-opting and monetarily enslaving intelligent minds to design new weapons of death and destruction, wasting precious resources to build and maintain their armored symbols of despair and fear, and destroying vast sections of the humanity’s collective culture to test their weapons is our leaders vision of the new America. The toxic byproducts of their machinations will haunt the biosphere for generations. Destroyed human lives, the true theft of war, are hidden beneath smiling anchors on corporate media outlets, suppressed so the American people can continue to live in their sheeplike numbness.

But resistance is not so easily crushed, as ill-equipped armies seeking handouts from their new masters are. And Americans that truly care about liberty and the freedoms outlined in the Bill of Rights will not go quietly into the night either. When the forces of rightwing fanaticism, the same forces that brought us the KKK and the five year $2.1 trillion military tax, call us traitors-- they attempt in their ignorance to sentence the entire human species to an endless war without any real chance of liberty or achievement. The future is still, in my opinion, up for grabs. Who will win out? The forces for democratic peace, or the new slavemasters of endless war and feudal economies. In these days of consolidation in Iraq and propaganda in America, we must not let the forces of tyranny sway us away from our initial vision of a just nation and planet where reason outweighs brute strength.
