MY FAVORITE SF.INDYMEDIA POST

This one is simply the best post I've ever read on one of these boards. Enjoy!

4/7 SF Military Planes Terrorize the City
by San Francisco Voter Monday April 07, 2003 at 07:18 PM

At 1 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2003, illegally low-flying military jets terrorized the busy downtown shopping and business area of San Francisco with its horrifying roar from the Bay over the stinking gambling racket known as professional baseball at the worthless stadium, for which we taxpayers pay, even though it is supposedly privately owned.

At 1 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2003, illegally low-flying military jets terrorized the busy downtown shopping and business area of San Francisco with its horrifying roar from the Bay over the stinking gambling racket known as professional baseball at the worthless stadium, for which we taxpayers pay, even though it is supposedly privately owned.

This illegal, horrifying nightmare is just a small taste of what the people of Iraq are experiencing 24 hours a day so the same fascist, wasteful gang of murderers, the Nazi USA's military, can make possible the oil profits that the oil companies desire.

Considering San Francisco has at least 1 million people in town on a weekday, with most people concentrated in the downtown area near the baseball stadium, and the stadium itself seats about 43,000 people, which it probably had on this opening day, the danger and criminality is that much greater.

This whole stinking spectacle was to glorify war while wasting our tax dollars and oil and making terrible noise, and it was all completely illegal over a densely populated city. There was absolutely nothing thrilling about it at all.

This baseball stadium, the first of the two stadium swindles promoted by that stinking fascist, anti-tenant, organized crime, election-frauding thug, "mayor" Willie Brown, in March 1996, is ostensibly privately owned, but like everything else costs us money in terms of city services for it, as Willie Brown admitted after the election. This stadium swindle was supported by the Democratic and Republican Central Committees, Willie Brown, all of the leading candidates for mayor, including Tom Ammiano and Angela Alioto, and all other elected officials from San Francisco at that time. It has not brought any prosperity to San Francisco at all. It merely promotes the gambling racket known as professional baseball, on the few days of the year that it is here. The other days, the city has to scramble to find entertainment to fill this boondoggle.

great find Fresca

by uh-huh Thursday, Apr. 10, 2003 at 8:25 AM

truly fab. article.
I hate all the stinking military aircraft that fly over dodgers stadium as well. It scares the hell out of all my neighbors everytime the fighterplanes drop in and roar overhead, buzzing the stadium. I guess for the folks their for the show its a treat, but for us residents in the area, it a constant fright.

Traffic, light polution (during dodger season it is never dark at night until the stadium lights go off at 4:00 AM), military buzzing. Now Im all for a good time, but think about your neighbors. This serves as a continued reminder of how the land Dodgers stadium was built upon was stolen from the residents of Chavez Ravine.

Keep up the good work Fresca!

" I guess for the folks their for the show its a treat, but for us residents in the area, it a constant fright. "

It happens ONCE a year. Opening Day.

And I'm sure you'd rather be living near the shithole of Chavez Ravine then Dodger Stadium right now.

Blue Death

by SF Giants Thursday, Apr. 10, 2003 at 8:32 AM

Just as funny is when they call the "Blue Angels" "Blue Death". Always upbeat and positive these leftys are. Makes ya wanna be one, don't it?

"Excuse me, but could I sign up for being miserable and stupid?"

"Sure son, the Democratic Party and liberalism could always use another dupe. Here's your membership card. Now if you'll just give us the number on your credit card and the account number of your saving account so that we can care for you from cradle to grave, we can get started."

Gee, Fresca and the Rest of the Freepers

by ESAD Thursday, Apr. 10, 2003 at 8:45 AM

Wow....upset about low-flying aircraft. Big joke? Gee, you big American patriots, I wonder if the 1,000 at the WTC felt a bit of upset when they saw two low-flying aircraft? Or how about those at the Pentagon?

In the aftermath of theterrorist attack on 9-11, you bet your sweet dumb asses that anyone who is in, at or near a large public/government facility or building better think twice about low-flying aircraft.

You Freeper Fuckers are shitheads.

You need to talk to Sheepdog. There were no planes. It was an inside job.

Wankers!

no, not only opening day

by uh huh Thursday, Apr. 10, 2003 at 9:21 AM

no, the fly overs arent only on opening day.

But thankyou for your empathy.

As for echo park vrs chavez ravine, I wasn't around when chavez residents were evicted, but Im sure they weren't happy about it.

I was just talking about history.
One thing that is cool that Dodgers Stadium does is support local community gardens by buying thier produce. They expressedly see this investment as a way to pay back against the longstanding neighborhood resentment which still exists.
