Belfast: Bush not welcome in Free Derry

by IMC Ireland Wednesday, Apr. 09, 2003 at 7:10 AM

Bush, Blair and Bertie (Ahern) met for a summit in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This ironic location is the center of the Occupied Six Counties, a gerrymandered statelet created to propagate the racist superiority of Loyalists/Unionists over Republicans. These pictures and reports show some of the turmoil that lay beneath the sanitised media reports of the "summit".

Note PSNI = Police Service of Northern Ireland (what used to be the RUC [Royal Ulster Constabulary -- the people responsible for numerous massacres, assasinations, framings and assaults upon Republican activists in N.Ireland).

Some of the other reports (especially of the move by White Overalls activists including Caoimhe Butterly who returned from Palestine 3 months ago after being shot by Israeli Defense Forces)

Some robocops (note, we've been dealing with armoured pigs for a lot longer than youse. I wouldn't mind betting that some of your pigs have been trained by ours in crowd control):

Debate over the day's tactics. (Note SWP = Socialist Workers Party, a Trotskyist group allied to the SWM (UK) and ISO (USA). Their leader Richard Boyd-Barrett has gone on radio denouncing direct action at Shannon airport as "non-peaceful". They hold most of the key positions in the Irish Anti War Movement (IAWM) and are keen on not "alienating" the middle classes by doing direct actions.)
