A Matter of Concern

by Simple Simon Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 7:22 PM

Old news being recycled. Why? Lots of nick stealing too.

I am noticing a great amount of old news suddenly being reposted as new on the boards lately.

Does anyone know why these articles are appearing?

Another issue is a radical increase in nick stealing, mostly of Bush Admirer's, Eric's, and my own. The person(s) responsible for doing so are publishing dozens of bogus replys, almost all of which are profane or graphic, and almost none of which have anything to say.

Being that Bush Admirer is/has been 'banned' by the la.indymedia collective, it seems odd that posts bearing his name but obviously not penned by him are not disappearing. This fact could lead some to suspect that the collective itself, or members of it, are responsible for these attacks.

If anyone knows anything about these matters, illumination would be appreciated.

QUESTION:

by Sammie Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 7:23 PM

Where did you get the info that Bush Admirer was banned?

Sammie;

I don't know for sure whether or not Bush Admirer has been banned. I had read some articles a few weeks back which indicated that he was, and a lot of his posts disappeared. Also, whereas he was a regular here, I see his nick very infrequently now, and when I do it is almost always someone posing as him.

Man, what totally lame conduct by people who are supposedly interested in issues and discussion. Yes, Bush Admirer was a pain and would disrupt, but some times he had interesting things to say - even if I found myself 180 degrees away from his opinion. Too bad there isn't some way to clean this mess up so that real news and ideas could get posted.

That's not right

by uu Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 7:38 PM

No, I agree. It's not right that certain people, regardless of their views, should be banned. That's not what IndyMedia is supposed to be about. Although I don't agree with anything Bush Admirer has said, I do appreciate his pressence. This forum would get boring if it wasn't frequented every now and then by people who have different opinions.

doubt it

by lovelife723 Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 7:57 PM

I doubt that la indymeida has banned bush ad. but I can't say I feel sorry that his rah rahing for republican idiocies and simplistic baiting of intelligent writers with his dismissive quips have gone away. Maybe like the generals in iraq he is feeling that taking over indymedia sites with right wing posturing isn't as easy as he thought.

As far as I'm concerned there have been quite a few insightful pieces published lately, most of the spamming has been done by neocons upset that their little buddy bush ad is getting dumped on, and repalcements like simon and justin f are even more vile in their attacks and pandering in their justifications.

I am glad that the long tugid marxist analysis pieces have dropped off, and the right wing has a million difft places to express themselves often with police state support. indymedia is a place for progressives not right wing demagogues. bush ad is certainly no matyr, he is probably a paid shill by some govt agency,,,and if he is gone...good riddance.

UU:

by Sammie Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 8:01 PM

Personally, I don't care what anyone's views are most of the time. I am just glad that they are interested enough to have a point of view. It's when they personally attack people and post really crude responses that makes everyone look bad.

No one should be banned unless they are just plain obnoxious. That does not mean that they have a point of view that is different from everyone else's and that makes them obnoxious. That is what a place like this is all about - hearing what others have to say.

Where the heck is the respect for one and other?

My guess...

by Diogenes Saturday, Mar. 29, 2003 at 9:02 AM

...is that the recycling of old news is planned disruption. The current news is running pretty much against the Bush Junta if you look beyond the Oil Soaked Major Monopoly Presstittutes.

The way to counter is to bump current articles back to the top.

Particularly ones embarassing to the Warmongers. It drives them nuts to have their lies exposed.

Impersonation

by Eric Saturday, Mar. 29, 2003 at 9:14 AM

The sincerest form of flattery.

We continue to kick the hind ends of these liberals on a daily basis and all we get for our troubles is name calling. "Freepers! Trolls!" That's some thanks for our efforts.

Idiots. Every last one of 'em.

Oh, and don't forget censorship...

by Eric Saturday, Mar. 29, 2003 at 9:15 AM

Gee, we lefties can't handle the truth. Let's block their IP!

Pathetic idiots.

Yes, Eric, if there's one thing you know about, it's idiots. You've made abundantly clear how much of an idiot you are with your asinine drivel that you post on this website. Also, congratulations on being a hypocrite. It's one of the most cherished conservative ideals, you "pathetic idiot."
