Iraqi officials said an air raid on Baghdad hit a busy market in the north of the city today, causing "many, many casualties".
An Iraqi information ministry official said journalists would be shown the site of the blast later in the day, but so far there has been no corroboration of the attack from coalition sources or news agencies.

Iraq today claimed "many, many" civilians were killed after coalition bombs or missiles hit a market in Baghdad. Officials said that at least 12 people had died although local people claimed "dozens and dozens" were dead.
The authorities said two cruise missiles struck a heavily-populated area in the north of the city, Al-Shaab.
Around 30 other people were said to be injured and there were reports from television journalists of badly-burned bodies lying close to damaged residential buildings.
The incident would appear to be the first major case of so-called "collateral damage" involving substantial civilian casualties, which Allied chiefs have been trying to avoid.
The Arabic satellite television channel Al Jazeera showed several charred cars at the scene. Hundreds of people stood in front of what appeared to be a bombed-out building, some with their firsts in the air and shouting "There is no God but God."
The Iraqi authorities are expected to take western journalists to the scene later today.
In the 1991 Gulf War, an RAF Tornado hit a market in the city with a stray bomb, killing a reported 130 people and wounding 78. The RAF apologised and called the incident a "one-off".
But it was one in a series of "collateral damage" incidents that led to charity the Red Crescent to estimate that as many as 7,000 civilians had been killed in allied bombing raids

So what's a few dead Iraqi kids...it should be obvious to everyone that Americans are better, that our souls go to heaven while Iraqi kids end up disappearing or worse. They deserve their fate. This is something our President understands but you liberals refuse to believe. And guess what...you are next.

If indeed this was an allied bomb off course you must feel sad for the loss of civilian lives. Be carful who you blame as Saddam has been useing GPS jammers to cause these weapons to go astray. He wants so much to portray the US as attacking civilians he dam well may have planted a car bomb to make it look like the a stray GPS bomb. Do not doubt his ruthlessmess.

Please, if you're referring to the GPS jammers that Saddam got from the Russians, they don't "lead missles astray" as much as they draw missle attacks towards them in the first place. And notice how the US mass media has used this as an excuse to blame the Russians rather than our inhumane bombing of Baghdad.
To suggest that Saddam at this point would purposely blow up buildings on purpose is as absurd as suggesting that bush allowed 911 to happen, whoops I'm sorry, that one is definitely a possibility so here is a better one--as absurd as believing bush is our legitimate president.
bush ass-kisser (and all of the other deluded christian fundamentalists in this sad nation) needs to heed the words of scripture that preclude such judgements against other people. your blatantly racist tone is as archaic and vile as the people who colonized this nation in the first place and l would image that lucifer is so pleased by your hatred that he awaits your arrival in hell...

JC - If you've been following the news, major media has been reporting that we've "taken out" their GPS jammers due to our "superior technology." So which is it? Besides...*sniff*...*sniff*...you stink of Shadow.
