CodePink and Peace Activists to Stage Simultaneous Actions in Los Angeles and Washington, DC

Dramatic Funeral Procession Wednesday With Children’s Coffins And Body Bags Will Mark Peaceful Prayer Vigil To Los Angeles

Resting Place For US Veterans Of War

WHAT: Dramatic Funeral Procession by ‘Code Pink: Women for Peace to the LA

National Cemetery, which is the resting place of US veterans of past

military actions. Dressed in black, juxtaposed by pink—the color for

peace—activists will march solemnly with children’s coffins and body bags,

while praying for peace and the lives of the women and children in Iraq.

WHEN: 8:00AM TOMORROW, Wednesday March 19, 2003

WHERE: Media Staging Area: 11100 Constitution Avenue at Sepulveda Blvd.

across from the entrance to the LA National Cemetery (Wishire Blvd Exit off

the 405 Fwy)

WHO: Members of Code Pink, Los Angeles area anti-war activists.

WHY: In the final 24 hours of the ultimatum issued by the Bush

Administration, CodePink has joined dozens of peace organizations nationwide

to vividly express the consequence of war that are not being discussed in

the public debate.

“Bush may be successfully convincing Americans that this can be a military

victory for the US, but it will be a moral defeat,” said Jodie Evans,

co-founder of CodePink: Women for Peace. “Women know the consequences of

war, and we take this action to demonstrate beforehand the grief we will all

have to bear if our nation proceeds as is being threatened.”

I have been trying to find a local contact for Code Pink to join their actions. Could someone please contact the email above. Thanks!
