A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.1MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Netherlands, Germany, China, Russia, Cuba.

Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (March 14) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.1MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:50) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired on Friday evening at 9pm (THIS WEEK ONLY!) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org

There are several other streams that work better- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PST) and on Monday at 9amPST.

Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/

streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.

And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio

This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, the Voice Of Russia, Radio Deutsche Welle, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From China-An analysis of the Turkish parliament’s rejection of US plans to use the country as a base for a war on Iraq. 90% of the Turkish citizens oppose any war on Iraq.

From Netherlands- The US and Britain have increased airstrikes in the so-called “no-fly zones” in Iraq, but the military claim the war has not begun. UN Chief Weapons Inspector Hans Blix is being ignored by the US and subjected to character assasination, a result of his not serving up the inspection results that Bush and Blair are asking for.

From Russia- The US is offering members of the UN Security Council financial and political perks for accepting their war plans. Here’s a review of what Russia has been offered.

From Germany- Germany, France, and Russia met on Wednesday and said they would not back an attack on Iraq. The US has been widely accused of conducting a “dirty tricks” campaign against UN Sec Council members leading up to a vote on a new anti-Iraq resolution. The first Palestinian suicide bombing since January took place in Haifa- a Palestinian legal advisor describes the situation leading up to the event.

From Cuba- A Viewpoint on Latin Americans taking to the streets to force their governments to find solutions to growing poverty, unemployment, and disease.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
