Speak out against police repression in Santa Ana.

Speak Out Against Police Repression in Santa Ana on Monday, March 3rd

The Santa Ana PD are out of control. First, they killed Elmer Bustos, a 17 year old, who witnesses say was unarmed, late January. Then, they harrassed activists and community members who went to their last City Council meeting to speak out against his brutal murder. Police officers questioned local activists about their "suspected anarchist affiliation," and even harassed mothers with babies, stating that they would be arrested if their babies cried during the meeting. A local activist (Matt Martinez of OTCI) even had to spend the night in jail, for walking away from the meeting with an unlicensed bike. No one should have to deal with police officers in riot gear, intimidating and barring citizens from speaking to their elected officials. Nor should anyone have to deal with being slapped with bogus charges as punishment for her/his political beliefs. Speak out against this blatant abuse of police power on Monday, March 3rd. The City Council meetings are held at 22 Civic Center Plaza, in Santa Ana in the Council Chambers. The meeting starts at 6PM, but be patient, and bring something to do, because public comments are heard toward the end of the meeting.
