MSN loves our SUV's, but are they missing the point?
Today's MSN article on SUV's was very interesting. It gave both sides of the debate with stunning subjectivity. But while MSN is defending these rollover nightmares, we have all missed the point.
Nobody likes SUV's because they guzzle gas!! And the moot point, that SUV's are convienient, is irrelevant at best. After all, it's not the SUV we hate, it's the engine.
We all know technology has taken us far. We know that engines can and have been designed to carry great loads with little energy.
We don't hate SUV's because we're jealous (that's ridiculous) we hate them because they use the wrong type of driving force.
So why doesn't the left stop bitching at the right stop bitching at the left and fix what's under the damn hood with what we already have.
Labor is complaining about jobs? Here's a job for ya asshole, put the right kind of engine in!! Chrysler complAINS ABOUT SALES, Well duh, even a hippie would buy your car if you used your brain.
The problem is not SUV's, it's our need to buy sub standard shit because that is what is available. It's a Target world of classless, uneducated hoi poloi.
And so, before I throw my Rav4 off a cliff, I'm waiting for the DWP to sell off some of their electric RAV4's, the ones we can't buy at the dealership.
The stupidity of the consumer market is in making safety, trendiness, and eco-friendly mutually exclusive words.
Capitalism is cool, if capitalists can be regulated to honesty.
If we knew the rollover rate, or that SUV's kill more people they hit than people inside, maybe we wouldn't have bought them out of sheer humanitarianism. But the problem with oil, gas and SUV's, should've already been solved with technology.
It hasn't been, obviously, and people who like their cars shouldn't be blamed.
Anyone (on the manufacturing end) who knowingly does damage to the environment when there is an obvious immediate alternative should be sued, SUV engine makers, deserve no more protection than asbestos laying contractors. Why give manufacturer's more breaks, when they can't make good vehicles? Rewarding stupidity is like, well, hiring Bush for president.
