The 1 1/2 hour teach-in will look at the "War on Terrorism" that has been waged since 9/11 in Afghanistan, and the current target Iraq. It will look at how the goal of rooting out terrorism quickly turned into one of liberating the Afghan people from the Taliban. Once the hunt for Osama Bin Laden proved more difficult that the Bush Administration imagined, the traget quickly became Iraq. The U.S is now on the verge of launching a brutal war against the Iraqi people, once more to liberate them through bombs. Donald Rumsfeld, US Defense Secretary has hailed Afghanistan as a model for Iraq. What are the implications of this for the people of Iraq? How will this war effect the women of Iraq? and what does it mean to be liberate a people through war? Sonali will will attempt to answer these and more questions at the teach-in.
