Almost Passed, but not dead.
The LA City Council took a vote on the Garcetti-Galanter anti-war resolution today. Here is the breakdown of the vote:
In Support:
Eric Garcetti
Ruth Galanter
Ed Reyes
Janice Hahn
Nate Holden
Tom LaBonge
Cindy Miscikowski
Against:
Alex Padilla
Jack Weiss
Wendy Greuel
Jan Perry
Hal Bernson
Dennis Zine
Although the vote was 7-6 in favor, the resolution did not pass because 8 votes are required. The two missing votes were:
Councilmember Nick Pacheco (CD 14), who was not present for the vote
The seat for CD 8 is currently open since Mark Ridley-Thomas was elected to the State Assembly
The council voted for a continuance, so the resolution is not dead.
This may come up at the Friday session.
