A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.2MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Russia, Germany, Netherlands, and Cuba .

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (February 14) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.2MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:00) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PST) and on Monday at 9amPST.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from the Voice Of Russia, Radio Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Russia- France, Germany and Belgium are blocking NATO assistance to Turkey prior to a war, creating a huge controversy. President Putin says that world security requires a multi-polar system of leadership. French opposition to American unilateral war plans has led to criticism and insults in the US press.
From Germany- China has expressed it's agreement with Germany, France and Russia in finding a political rather than military solution to the Iraq crisis. Filmaker Spike Lee spoke out against a war at the Berlin Film Festival. Then a Press review from Wednesday, covering global antiwar sentiments, the costs of war, and the alleged Osama tapes.
From Netherlands- Russian Pres Putin says he may use his veto power in the UN Security Council to prevent an attack on Iraq. The Kurdish rebel group formerly known as the PKK threatened a full-scale war against Turkey if Turkish troops are moved into their areas. Israel has imposed a complete closure in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Belgium's highest court has ruled that Israel's Ariel Sharon may be sued for war crimes committed in Lebanon in 1982.
From Cuba- Many countries whose governments are supporting US war plans are facing unprecedented domestic backlash, and will see huge antiwar demonstrations this weekend- how honestly will the US media portray these events? Then a recap of US Senator Robert Byrd’s plea for a debate and discussion of the impending war, which he sees as a turning point in world history.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
