Political poetry reading

Julia Stein will read from political poetry from her latest two books at Duttons, Sunday, Feb 23, 2:00, 11975 San Vicente. Poetry will deal with stopping cutbacks in education, anti-war, stopping assaults on the environment, and stopping war.

Julia Stein will have a publication party for her 4th book, "Walker Woman, "Feb. 23, Sunday, 2:00 at Duttons bookstore, 19975, San Vicente, West LA, parking behind store, free with validation.

"Walker Woman" deals with fights against cutbacks in community colleges, the destructive of the h.mo.o. and the assaults on the environment in California. The heroine, a walker woman who climbs the deserts and mountains of the West, has a saving relationship to the land. Stein will also read from her 3rd book "Shulamith"--poems against patriarchy, facism and against sweatshops--and from her 3rd book "Desert Soldiers"--which has anti-war poetry. Stein is a longtime anti-war activist and was also active in anti-sweatshop group Common Threads, helping to successfully defend the group when sued by Guess Jeans.
