Workers at Lufthansa U.S. Subsidiary in North Haven, CT Organize Against an Employer from Hell

With Richard Bensinger, and Peggy Shorey

Organizesrs, UAW Region 9A and Workers

at Chef Solutions

Corporate irresponsibility in global corporations has reached new and troublesome levels at Chef Solutions, a division of Lufthansa Airlines.

According to Richard Bensinger, “This is the worst corporate conduct I have witnessed in my 25 years organizing and as National Organizing Director of the AFL-CIO.” Faced with pervasive sexual harassment

and threats over their immigration status, employees at Chef Solutions’ North Haven, Connecticut facility, launched an effort to form a union affiliated with the United Auto Workers. In response they faced

physical assaults, firings, unlawful surveillance and threats to close the company. Most recently, an employee has contacted Federal authorities due to a threat against his life at gun point by a member

of Chef Solutions Management. Chef Solutions employs about 200 workers in North Haven who manufacture dough. Their largest customers are Subway sandwich Shops and Shaws Supermarkets.
