a new web site urges you to go to D.C. on 1/18 and stop this blasted war! oh, and it doubles as an expose on A.N.S.W.E.R., the group that organized the march

a new web site urges you to go to D.C. on 1/18 and stop this blasted war! what's more, you get the inside scoop on the march's organizers at:

http://AuthoritarianOpportunistsWhoCozyUpToGenocidalDictators-forPeace.org/

you heard us!

http://AuthoritarianOpportunistsWhoCozyUpToGenocidalDictators-forPeace.org/

for a limited time (well, not really), get the scoop on A.N.S.W.E.R.'s bad track record with other groups, their fondness for-- you guessed it-- genocidal dictators, and their naughty, naughty authoritarian ways. sheesh!

so don't forget to check out:

p.s. let's stop this blasted war!

a website dedicated to red-baiting groups, and treating progressive groups, with some mistaken ideas, as tthe enemy. Nothing like calling progressive people wannabe dictators to make yourself sound like a fool.

Divide and Conquer

by black-block-head Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 at 9:35 PM

People who wish to divide and conquer... that is, DESTROY our peace movement, have set up a parody website that blasts the ANSWER Coalition (the folks responsible for the largest national protests against the impending war with Iraq).

The trouble makers who work to divide us call their parody site, the "Authoritarian Opportunists Who Cozy Up To Genocidal Dictators."

Perhaps the super left liberal, Marc Cooper of the L.A. MEEKLY set up the website... he's been lambasting ANSWER lately for the same reasons expressed on the parody website. Ever since Cooper left KPFK in a hissy fit because the station was "too left"... he's been attacking anything left of Al Gore.

Or perhaps so-called "anarchists" have set the parody site up... jealous that they could not mount an effective mass demonstration like ANSWER's recently successful march in L.A. that pulled in over 15,000 people.

For being hard line, no good, commie rat Stalinist pigs... it's amazing how ANSWER demonstrations always attract tens of thousands of middle class housewives, mothers, religious folks, students, and businessmen. But when the commie international throws it's endless resources behind brainwashing innocent people... I suppose anything can happen.

Just think... Martin Sheen, Jackson Brown, Maxine Waters, and oh so many other luminaries from last weekends demonstration.... ALL DUPES of the rotten red bastards out to take over the world.

As soon as so-called "anti-authoritarians" can do the months of hard work, organizing the grass roots and making appeals to various organizations to come together... as soon as these "anarchists" can pull off a series of mass demonstrations that are the honest expressions of the tens of thousands who attend them... as soon as anarchos can negotiate the permits from the authorities (oh... I forgot, we're supposed to be against permits, we are just supposed to riot)... as soon as "anti-authoritarians" can pull together the Legal representatives to oversea a mass march as well as provide for security monitors (oops! there I go again with my authoritarian police state mentality).... then, and only then, will your "critiques" be taken seriously.

For all those spoilers sitting on the sidelines who couldn't call together a demonstration of more than a dozen teenagers dressed up in black anarcho uniforms... put up or shut up.

I'm not a member of ANSWER or NOT IN OUR NAME. I have no use for the Revolutionary Communist Party or the other extreme left formations... but I have even LESS use for people who want to muck up the potential for building a truly mass movement.

ANSWER and NOT IN OUR NAME have been doing incredible work... when you can match it, I'll listen to you.

RESPONSE Is Hardly Worth One

by You call yourself a leftist? I doubt it Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 at 9:50 PM

Cheers to the defender of ANSWER. And by that I don't mean defending their policies, but they have called the largest anti-war demonstrations, to date, on the Iraq issue. It is right to defend their ability to put on mass demonstrations. None of their demonstration includes duping people into ascribing to their beliefs.

Red-baiting must be quelled lest it take over the progressive movement. It is a waste of time and resources. January 18th will be great, but not because of International RESPONSE, who I presume is jealous of ANSWER's organizing ability.

Go ANSWER!

Ummmm...

by Lefty Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at 2:26 AM

Last I checked, four different groups had organized the demo in LA on Saturday. Not just ANSWER.

Note also that the authoritarianopportunistsetc. website DOES urge people to go to the demo on the 18th. Take a look for yourself (especially if you're criticizing the site without looking at it). Hardly seems like the work of awful horrible folks trying to divide the movement.

It does criticize ANSWER, too, from several very different points of view. And it offers up the Worikers' World party's own words on subjects like the Tianenmen Square massacre and lets people judge for themselves.

What's wrong with this? Creating a movement means being able to speak honestly within the movement as well as speaking to the outside world. That's how it's always happened. If ANSWER can argue against some of the stuff on the website, great. But to simply say that it's redbaiting (which it's not) or jealousy or whatever is pretty weak.

we need to have a choice.

by just a small-town radical Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at 7:46 AM

the folks who write the first few posts speak with a lot of anger. i don't really get it. ANSWER is a pretty revolting organization. yes they can mobilize a ton of people-- that's not up for debate. but their agenda and beliefs and politics are horrifying.

that site doesn't smear ANSWER-- half of the links are to the WWP's own documents. the AuthOpp etc site lets people read WWP's own words and the words of its many critics so that folks can decide themselves how they feel.

a ton of people support this group because they don't know better. others don't care who ANSWER are; they just want to go to the event and support the right cause. we all have different boundaries.

the point is, people should be able to know about ANSWER. the information, to my knowledge, has never been on one site before.

these movements for social justice and peace are supposedly about freedom. well, i want the freedom to choose whom i support. i want to know if the people who organized the demo i'm at are stalinist fucks.

if you still support ANSWER, fucking fine. but why get so angry about factual information (their own words) and valid journalism being compiled about them?

peace.

p.s. they ARE authoritarian opportunists who support genocidal dictators. whoever came up with that name is brill.

how can you be down with a group that defends slobo?
