A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.4MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Netherlands, Germany, Russia, China, Spain, and Cuba.

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (January 10) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.4MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:20) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PST) and on Monday at 9amPST.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice Of Russia, China Radio International, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- Sec of State Colin Powell met with a Cuban dissident returning from France where he’d received an award for Freedom of Expression. 20 Greenpeace activists were arrested in Holland for their protest against Dow Chemical. Israel has banned Palestinian travel, including those scheduled to meet at a peace conference in London.
From Germany- Peru’s Pres Toledo has been granted special powers to combat terrorism. On Monday Saddam Hussein addressed his country for Army Day, criticizing weapons inspectors and the continuing US/British bombing.
From Russia- There is a call in the UN for an open session of the Security Council when the Weapons Inspectors report- but with the troop buildup already in action, there is doubt that the US will listen to anything that might postpone the attack.
From China- An analysis of Saddam's Army Day speech, analyzing why he would take such a hard line, challenging the US at this time.
From Spain- The EU is stepping up efforts to avoid an attack on Iraq, as opposition to a war builds in Turkey, Egypt, and France.
From Cuba- UN officials have warned that an attack on Iraq would create a greater crisis for civilians than the 1991 Gulf War. Tony Blair has warned Geo Bush that he must listen to the world’s concerns about the Middle East Crisis, global warming and poverty. A Palestinian cabinet member says Israel has converted his country into a large prison. Then a Viewpoint on the role of globalization in dividing the world into 2 camps, the rich and the poor- and how the poor of the Southern Hemisphere risk everything to reach the luxury of the North.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
