A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.5MB) and quick download (3.4MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Spain, and Cuba.

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (December 13) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.5MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:32) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PST) and on Monday at 9amPST.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice Of Russia, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- A quota system for carbon emissions has been agreed upon by the European environment ministers. Opponents of the communist government in Cuba held meetings across the island on International Human Rights Day. A research report shows that more children are being murdered now in Guatemala than during the 26 year long civil war. UN weapons Inspectors in Iraq are increasingly busy, while Washington warned the world it would use nuclear weapons in response to an attack with weapons of mass destruction.
From Germany- Iraq accused the US of “blackmail” by forcing the UN to hand over the weapons dossier, and that the US will use it as an excuse to attack. The UN Security Council spent Tuesday debating how to protect civilians caught up in armed conflict. Then a DW commentary on the necessity of maintaining principles of human rights while addressing international terrorism.
From Russia- A commentary from the VOR on the US training Iraqi opposition forces, and the completion of preparations for an invasion of Iraq.
From Spain- A major US war game is underway in Qatar named “Operation Look.” The US government has agreed to sell weapons to Algeria for the first time. Car bombs continue to go off in Columbia, one on Monday while the Pres Uribe was meeting with IMF officials. Then a report on the continuing oil spill off the coast of Spain, the country’s worst ever environmental disaster.
From Cuba- As Mexican Pres Fox was celebrating the 10th anniversary of NAFTA, Mexican farmers and teachers took to the streets. Anger at the US is swelling in S Korea, with thousands taking to the streets of Seoul.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
