Sunday 12/8 *6-10AM LIVE Broadcast of Pacifica National Board

by myla reson Sunday, Dec. 08, 2002 at 8:57 PM

Tune in to 90.7 FM, kpfK Sunday, Dec 8th from 6 - 10 AM for a live broadcast of an interim Pacifica National Board meeting.

===============

Saturday, December 7, 2002

Today three hours of this weekend's meeting of the interim Pacifica National Board were broadcast live on kpfK. At the end of the three hours the station board operator read this announcement:

"That does it for today's portion of the meeting. It concludes the portion on the bylaws. Tomorrow we will start at 6 AM and go through 10 AM to continue the portion of the Pacifica National Board meeting in Washington D.C. that we choose to cover."

There had been some confusion about how much of this meeting of the iPNB would be broadcast on kpfK. Late Thursday night, National Board Chair, Leslie Cagan sent out an email with Pacifica stations' live broadcast schedule but she had not heard back from two of the station managers. She had not received any information from kpfK.

In the days leading to the meeting there had been on air announcements on kpfK about the three hours of the Saturday session. The announcements promised that Pacifica station managers would discuss bylaws. There was no mention of the planned live broadcast of portions of the Sunday meeting. And those who called the station to inquire were told that live broadcast of the meeting would be limited to 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturday.

The live broadcast tomorrow morning will begin with a half hour personnel committee report, followed by reports from all five Pacifica stations. Also heard tomorrow will be a report and proposal from the Pacifica National Archives.

bush admirer,
"The hate they spew (continuously) is disgraceful"

how can you say that? i disagree with lots of the stuff they air too (though probably for different reasons than you) and if you do too, that's fine. but the statement above seems way too extreme, too emotional. why?

pacifica has a lot to offer, in just the archives alone.. have you ever checked out what they have?

martin luther king, rosa parks, langston hughes, margaret mead, henry miller, pauline kael, alice walker, miles davis, james baldwin, john cage, and a lot more. .. all of this is "disgraceful hate"?
