A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Netherlands, Germany, Spain, China, and Cuba.

Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (November 29) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:07) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired at 7pm PST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/

There are several other streams that work better- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PST) and on Monday at 9amPST.

And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, Spanish National Radio, China Radio International, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Netherlands- Newsweek magazine claimed that Saudi Arabians helped finance the 9/11 hijackers, and the US is pressuring the government to do more in the so-called “war on terrorism.” Here’s a Saudi response. Then, Germany restated that they will not be part of any attack on Iraq, but will supply Israel with Patriot missles for defense.

From Germany- Israel continued sweeping raids in the West Bank and Gaza, keeping the tension extreme in Palestine. Then from the weekly Man and Environment show, a behind the scene look at Greenpeace, its mission and role in educating the next generation of activists.

From Spain- the new President of Ecuador, former Colonel Guiterrez, faces the challenge of ending government and banking corruption, and improving the economics of the poor majority.

From China- Iran denies a CNN report that the US will be allowed to use bases in their country, calling it psychological warfare. The UN Security Council extended for 9 days the Oil For Food program with Iraq, instead of the usual 6 months. Henry Kissinger has been placed at the head of the panel investigating US knowledge of the 9/11 attacks.

From Cuba- the US State Dept responded to a Chilean judge regarding the murder of an American journalist, after Chile threatened to extradite Henry Kissinger. Columbian courts have ruled that the military’s current unlimited powers will not be extended. The UN continues its protest against the Israeli army for harassing UN staff and even killing a British UN official. The aide to Canada’s Prime Minister who was overheard describing George Bush as a moron, has resigned over the incident.

I just put up on the web a 59 minute long speech on the US Patriot Act given by Judith Volkart of the No California ACLU board. It is extremely informative and up to date. It is free to rebroadcast upon notification. CDs are available. Check it out at- http://www.radio4all.net/proginfo.php?id=5857

I was recently interviewed on a radio program called RISE- the topic was "The End Of The Age Of Oil," talking about living and producing radio off-the-electrical-grid. Kellia Ramares produces the show, which may be found at- http://www.radio4all.net/proginfo.php?id=5835

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!

-- Men in authority will always think that criticism of their policies is dangerous. They will always equate their policies with patriotism, and find criticism subversive.
