A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. Germany, Netherlands, Russia, and Cuba.

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (November 8) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:57) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired at 7pm PST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/
There are several other streams that work better- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm (PST) and on Monday at 9amPST.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR at Fri 9:30PM/ Sat 9:30AM PM/ Sun 9:30AM PST
and the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands, the Voice of Russia, and Raio Havana Cuba.
From Germany- As this show is being produced, a huge anti-globalization/anti-war forum and demonstration is organizing in Florence Italy, the first action in Italy since the murderous police reaction in Genoa last year. A commentary on the Bush Triumph in this weeks US elections, creating worldwide fear that the US population is marching united behind its unilateralist regime. Then a press review on reactions to the CIA missle attack in Yemen, questioning the legality of this act.
From Netherlands- The CIA missle attack in Yemen, which killed 6 people, is described as a precedent for unlimited unilateral military action. Israel's Prime Minister Sharon has called for early elections after his unity government collapsed last week- former Prime Minister Netanyahou has been appointed Foreign Minister, creating an even more right-wing government, as discussed here by an Israeli peace activist.
From Russia- A commentary from Tuesday on reactions at the United Nations prior to new anti-Iraq resolutions put forward by the US. Then from Wednesday, a report calling the new resolution "slightly watered down," followed by a response from a Bagdhad newspaper.
From Cuba- The Republican triumph in this week's elections is widely attributed to Bush's capitalizing on the 9/11 attack, while distracting attention from the key domestic issues, the economy and corporate corruption. European reactions to the victory are fear that Bush will be emboldened and more arrogant in his pursuit of "cowboy diplomacy." The UN mission in Guatemala has criticized the increasing military budget as showing disregard for the 1996 Rebel Peace Accord.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!

--Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.
-Dwight D Eisenhower
