26 CA Greens Elected! Camejo sets record!

In California, 26 Green Party members were elected to office on November 5, including eleven City Council members. Governor candidate Peter Camejo set a record going back to 1934, and in San Francisco he beat Republican Bill Simon, with 15.9%!

NATION'S FIRST GREEN SCHOOL BOARD MAJORITY

Nevada County Greens now host the nation’s first Green School Board majority. Incumbents Greens DeOnne Noel and Sandra Ventura Scott were re-elected to the Twin Ridges Elementary School Board. They are joined by newly elected Cindy Foxtrot. Two Greens are now contesting the remaining seat. This means three out of five seats will be held by Greens.

GREEN STATEWIDE SLATE FINISHES BETWEEN 3.9% AND 5.7% AND ALSO FINISHES AHEAD OF ALL OTHER CALIFORNIA SMALL PARTIES IN ALL STATEWIDE RACES

In previous elections, the highest percentage any statewide Green candidate received was 3.9% - Ralph Nader for President in 2000 and Margaret Garcia for Secretary of State in 1994. In 2002, all statewide candidates received at least 3.9%.
