**Updates(from http://jerusalem.indymedia.org/)
JENIN
November 1 2002:Four homes that belong to activists from the Fateh and Islamic Jihad movements were demolished by the army, using explosives or bulldozers. and over one-hundred people were arrested in Jenin alone in the last few days, beginning with a massive Israeli raid on the town. Palestinian sources contest that the number is much higher, claiming that it also included elders and youth.

CAZA
November 1 2002:Three Palestinians were killed and a few others were wounded in an explosion that rocked a neighborhood in Gaza. Two more were shot by Israeli forces in Tulkarm, while news reports say that Palestinian fighters surrounded an Israeli army unit in the town.
Hamas Movement said that the three killed are members of its military wing, concluding that the explosion was a result of a “technical error”, and not a planned assassination by the Israeli army.

How can one pretend

by T-Mex Wednesday, Nov. 06, 2002 at 11:16 AM

to be informed when one only knows one side of the story?

Here's the rest, also from Amnesty:

ISRAEL AND THE OCCUPIED TERRITORIES AND THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY
Without distinction - attacks on civilians by Palestinian armed groups

1. Introduction

27 May 2002: Sinai Keinan, aged 18 months, and her grandmother Ruth Peled, 56, were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance to the Bravissimo café in Petah Tikva, Israel. Fifty other people were injured, many of them children. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade claimed responsibility.
27 April 2002: three armed men attacked residents of Adora, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank. In the bedroom of one house a gunman killed five-year old Danielle Shefi as she hid under a bed and wounded her mother Shiri, her brothers Uriel, aged four and Eliad, aged two. Elsewhere in the settlement, they also killed three adults. Izz-al-Din al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of Hamas) claimed responsibility for what it described as an ''heroic and daring operation.''(1)
29 March 2002: Tuvya Viesner, 79, from Tel Aviv and Michael Orlanski, 70, from Petah Tikva were stabbed to death while visiting relatives at the Israeli settlement of Netzarim in Gaza. Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for what they described as an ''heroic and courageous assault.''
27 March 2002: Twenty nine people - 27 of them civilians - were killed and 140 injured when an attacker exploded a bomb attached to himself in the dining room of a hotel in Netanya during a meal to celebrate the Jewish festival of Passover. Nineteen of the dead were aged over 70. The oldest, Chanah Rogan, was 90. Izz-al-Din al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility.
27 January 2002: Pinhas Tokatli, aged 81, was killed and more than one hundred people were injured when Wafa Idris exploded a bomb attached to herself in Jaffa Street, Jerusalem, an area of shops and restaurants. Wafa Idris was the first female Palestinian ''suicide bomber''. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility.
4 November 2001: Menashe Regev, 14 and Shoshana Ben-Yishai, 16, were killed by a gunman who shot at an Israeli bus in Jerusalem. Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

These are just six of more than 130 attacks since 29 September 2000 in which civilians were killed by members of Palestinian armed groups and by Palestinian individuals who may not have been acting on behalf of a group. (2) In many attacks, perpetrators deliberately targeted people like five year-old Danielle Shefi and 79 year-old Tuvya Viesner, knowing without any doubt that their victims were not members of the Israeli armed forces. Other perpetrators attacked large groups of people in a busy street, a bus, a café, a hotel or a market, knowing that many if not most of the victims would be civilians.

Amnesty International condemns unreservedly direct attacks on civilians as well as indiscriminate attacks, whatever the cause for which the perpetrators are fighting, whatever justification they give for their actions. The organization has repeatedly condemned attacks on civilians in reports and statements and in meetings and other communications with armed groups that have attacked civilians in Israel and the Occupied Territories and in countries around the world. (3) Targeting civilians and being reckless as to their fate are contrary to fundamental principles of humanity which should apply in all circumstances at all times. These principles are reflected in international treaty law and in customary law. (See section 5)

No

by T-Mex Wednesday, Nov. 06, 2002 at 1:20 PM

you folks on the Left have only one view: America is wrong, America is evil, America is the focus of evil in the modern world, Bush is the next Hitler. . . etc.

And you can't stand to have it pointed out to you that this is not the case. . . that its a dangerous world filled with bad people and that the US is, by and large, the defender of those who value freedom and individual rights.

Hence, your constant portrayal of Israel as the oppressor and the Palestinians as the oppressed. "The US supports Israel, Israel must be bad. The Palestinians hate Israel, they must be good!"

(Nevermind the fact that the 1,000,000 Arabs living in Israel have more rights there than those living in the rest of the middle east, that Israel is the only democracy in the middle east, and nevermind that there are many Palestinians (and Arafat is arguably among them) and other Arabs who would like to see the "final solution" employed against the Israelis.)

SheMex, don't you have another song to sing besides "the 1,000,000 Arabs living in Israel have more rights there than a caged and beaten animal"? You keep comparing the rights of Israeli Arabs with those in other Arab countries...and by doing this point to the fact that the are treated as an inferior class in Israel.

Why do you defend this? Is this not, by definition "oppresion"?

Now go bark away before I wack you again with the newspaper, bitch. Go fetch me some spam, like a good little doggie...

I think you

by T-Mex Wednesday, Nov. 06, 2002 at 2:30 PM

really need to look at whose side your on.

You're supporting the people who treat the Arabs like dogs in a cage.

Would I like to see more equality in Israel, of course.

I somehow doubt that will happen as long as the intifada continues. . .

But you know that there are many mosques in Israel and the Muslims are permitted to practice their faith in peace in Israel. . .

And you know that there is not one single Jewish Temple or Christian Church in Saudi Arabia, or Iran, or a number of other middle eastern nations. . . and that practicing these religions in public in many of these nations is a crime.

But no one on the Left would ever dare criticize any middle eastern nation OTHER than Israel.

And the reason is obvious: The Left supports the Islamists in their desire to destroy the US, its allies and Western Civilization.

And your inability to respond without insults only goes to prove the weakness of your arguments. . . so I expect another one now!

I think you really need to blow me...I haven't made a statement from any "side", so how the fuck do you know what side I am on, or even if I am on ANY side? I was just pointing out the flaw in what you flaccidly put forth as an argument....

...don't you have a monkey or something to spank?

you really do think I'm stupid. . . if you think I'm buying that "I don't have a side" line!

Sorry to disappoint you.

But you never disappoint me -- childish insults instead of a rational discourse. A true Leftist.

if you really opposed anti-christian, antisemitic theocracies abroad you wouldn't tow the line of Saudi Arabia's biggest western supporter, the US. or you would at least voice a little criticism of it. isn't it interesting how so many American firms have made such a large amount of money there. When it comes down to it, the governing elites don't share your views. Chevron was holding talks with the Taliban(arch jew-haters, jesus bashers, and buddha blow-uppers) about building an oil pipeline from the Caspian in their country through august 2001. you see, they'll deal with whoever is convinient
Don't think for a second that I support radical Islam. I despise it as much as I hate the radical christianity of the extreme American Right. They're both reactionary and stupid. They must both be condemned.
Also, consider how many of these radical muslim movements were fostered as assets of the west. Israel once sponsored Hamas as way to weaken support for the PLO and the US trained and armed what would become the Islamists of al-Qaeda, the Taliban and the Northern Alliance. They were all supposed to be a counterweight to the secular nationalists of yesteryear.
