Story: WHO DO YOU BELIEVE THE NEW YORK TIMES OR THE NEW YORK TIMES?: AS THE NATION'S PAPER OF RECORD CHANGES ITS STORY ON THIS WEEKEND'S ANTI-WAR PROTESTS, WE LOOK AT HOW THE TIMES AND NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO HAVE MINIMIZED THE PEACE MOVEMENT
Covering this past weekend's anti-war rally in Washington D.C. the nation's paper of record reported that "thousands of protesters marched through Washington's streets" and that "fewer people attended than organizers had said they hoped for." That was on Sunday.
Today, three days later, the paper reports: "The demonstration on Saturday in Washington drew 100,000 by police estimates and 200,000 by organizers', forming a two-mile wall of marchers around the White House. The turnout startled even organizers, who had taken out permits for 20,000 marchers. They expected 30 buses, and were surprised by about 650, coming from as far as Nebraska and Florida."
Two reports. Two different stories.
The same was true at National Public Radio. On Saturday an NPR reporter at the Washington protest announced: "It was not as large as the organizers of the protest had predicted. They had said there would be 100,000 people here. I'd say there are fewer than 10,000."
Within the past 24 hours, NPR issued a correction for the misinformation. "We erroneously reported on All Things Considered that the size of the crowd was 'fewer than 10,000.' While Park Service employees gave no official estimate, it is clear that the crowd was substantially larger than that." NPR has since reported that at least 100,000 did in fact attend the rally.
Guests:
* Jeffrey Dvorkin, National Public Radio ombudsman.
* Sara Flounders, member of the ANSWER coalition steering committee.
* Peter Hart, media analyst at Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR).
* Liz Mason-Deese, freshman at the University North Carolina who attended Saturday's protest and was quoted in the New York Times.
* Nancy Kanwisher, M.I.T. professor of cognitive neuroscience. She too was quoted - inaccurately - in the Times.

has been a DNC rag for years.
Take a look at their coverage of John Muhammed's killing spree. . . look for some reference to him being an adherent to the official "Religion of Peace". . . or for him being a member of the Nation of Islam. . . his sympathy for the 9/11 19. . . try and find it among all of the references to him being a US Army Gulf War veteran!
How about finding a reference to the fact that the nutz who threatened to blow up a theater full of civilians happened to also be adherents to the official "Religion of Peace"?
One may wonder if the term "Peace" means the same in Arabic as it does in English. . . is it a synonym for blowing up children!?
Actually, at least one Muslim scholar says that is the case. Bassam Tibi warns that the Islamic definition of "peace" is VERY different from any Western notion. Tibi writes that "peace" in Islam means "world wide Islamic rule"!
(See http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=18062002-044316-3353r)
Oh. . . that explains it!

BushBlower:"If the Ku Klux clan were to have a parade through North Beach in San Francisco with fifty demonstrators it wouldn't swing the citizens over to the Klan's agenda. Even if there were 500 Klansmen, or 5,000 Klansmen, or 50,000 Klansmen, or 500, 000 Klansmen."
...obviously you don't know shit about organizing...
...and in your denial betray your fears...

Keep repeating the same shit. Are your script writers
sleeping together?
LIBERAL TIMES?!
Anything not goose stepping in absolute cadence with
the opinions of their masters (owners/Sponsors) is
always labeled as liberal treason. Walking the tightrope
between reporting and propaganda is tricky; sometimes they
HAVE to report a little truth. Then they are labeled "liberal"
Mostly they do their job which is to promote their masters
agenda. That's why they are losing circulation. People are waking up slowly and they keep calling me to subscribe all the time.
They've blown their cover.

The right wing needs to do better than that
If they're going to win our hearts and minds.
KPC has probally gotten bored and left.
But I'll taunt you if you wish.

BushBlowerBaby...I don't know where to begin.
First...forget about the Klan. That's your strawman. Your original point, if you ever had one, was that numbers do not matter because, I assume from your comparison to the Klan, the cause is too offensive. By this comparison, you imply that if an anti-war rally, or series of anti war rallies were held in San Fransisco that draw 500 - 500,000 , in your own words,"Hardly anyone pays attention to their message. "
Now, we can all see how pattently ridiculous your assertion is here. If half a million people protest in San Francisco for WHATEVER reason, people will "pay attention". Which means that they will listen to find out why half a million people are making it hard for them to pick up Junior from the little league game. Now the anti-war cause may be objectionable to you, but you, thank god, are NOT the norm, as well as not being normal.
What is really behind your little boy barkings here is that your worst fear is that the people will get together and start rockin the fuckin boat. And you can count on that, junior...they WILL. And it will grow...because you educate to organize, and as people learn, they will be PISSED OFF!
So, not knowing anything about what it would take to organize half a million people in one city for a single cause...and not think that that would demonstrate any change in voter attitudes...fuck...just think of the number of people who sympathize but could not make it....you dismiss it.
So, hairless one, THAT is why I know that you don't know SHIT about organizing.
Boo!

The concept here is how to force the media into
journalism, You can't.
Alternate news groups will and are developing and many resources are being used, now by interests that wish it to break, to attack it.
I believe that robots like T. Mex, Bush Admirer, and
Simple Simon, are part of these resources.
Just an observation and opinion, you understand.
