Although Rifkin seems to be waking from a deep coma when he makes the connection between Bush-Cheney and the oil industry, it is nonetheless disturbing to read his opinion that there is a "national silence" about this fact. Mr. Rifkin, hundreds of thousands of Americans are marching in the streets protesting the war, the motivations, and the policies of Bush-Cheney! Wake up and smell the coffee! Perhaps your silence and that of the LA Times (which did not even report the massive protest of many thousands on the streets of Los Angeles, October 6th) are the ones guilty of deafening silence. Please realize that the media blackout, the spineless capitulation of congress, AND the machinations of big oil behind the current administration do not go unnoticed by the vast majority of Americans. Pull your head out of that distorted poll data, which seems to ferret out ONLY those who get all their information from CNN, and face the truth... Americans everywhere are against this phony war.
