“US Foreign Policy and Iraq: Making the Case for Peace”

Phyllis Bennis, an expert on Iraq, will speak in a public forum on Saturday, 10/19 in Pasadena. After her presentation, “US Foreign Policy and Iraq: Making the Case for Peace”, there will be a teach-in and book signing.

Saturday, October 19th, 4 –6 pm, Pasadena. Phyllis Bennis, an expert on Iraq, will speak at Throop Memorial Church, 300 S. Los Robles Ave.(at Del Mar) in Pasadena. After her presentation, “US Foreign Policy and Iraq: Making the Case for Peace”, there will be a teach-in and book signing.

Phyllis Bennis is an International Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC. She has written about UN and Middle East issues for more than 25 years, with work appearing in dozens of magazines, periodicals and journals. Her newest book is Before & After: U.S. Foreign Policy and the September 11th Crisis (Interlink Publishing, September 2002). She is also the author of Calling the Shots: How Washington Dominates Today's UN (Interlink, 2000).

Bennis appears frequently as a commentator/analyst on U.S. and international television and radio programs. She speaks frequently at universities, churches, community organizations, and political seminars across the U.S. and abroad. She has testified in numerous U.S. Congressional hearings on Iraq and other issues. She has been a featured speaker at United Nations conferences on Palestine and UN questions in Athens, Prague, New Delhi, Paris, Havana, Toronto, New York and Madrid, as well as the World Federation of UN Associations in Luxembourg, the Indian International Center in New Delhi, the International Organization of Journalists in Vietnam, and a variety of other venues. She has addressed the European Parliament in Brussels on expanding Europe's role in the Middle East, and the Dutch parliament on Iraq sanctions. She has lectured at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Berkeley, Bir Zeit University (West Bank), Georgetown, Jawarhalal Nehru University (New Delhi), MIT, Columbia University, American University, and many others. She regularly briefs UN- and Washington-based diplomats, journalists and parliamentarians.
