New Hollywood Film--Nigerian Stoning of Woman for Adultery

Arriving today in the United States, Ethiopia's renegade businessman Russom Damba is anouncing that he intends to make a "Romeo and Juliet"-type love story out of the recent situation regarding Nigerian Muslim women being sentenced to death by stoning for committing adultery.

Damba is mounting the film "SINS OF A LIVING WOMAN" and says he expects to get filmmaker, Raoul Peck, who made the critically acclaimed LUMUMBA to direct the picture. Alfre Woodard, Lonette Mckee, Tony Todd and Akosua Busia have been anounced as the supporting cast--while Damba intends to cast the highly controversial Sudanese-American novelist and activist Kola Boof in the lead role as a woman torn by true love and desire. Kola Boof, who is known for posing topless on the backs of her books, will also be appearing nude in the film, but Damba insists that the nudity is necessary for the stoning scenes and that the film is a top notch romantic and historical drama. He expects principal photography to begin next May in the Carribean. Damba says that a recent attempt on the life of Kola Boof by Muslim fundamentalists has delayed the project, but that it will go forward and that Boof will be alive to make it.
