ATTENTION NEWS DESK; FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HUNDREDS TO MARCH AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY IN LONG BEACH!

ANARCHISTS AND COMMUNITY RESIDENTS WILL HOLD A MASSIVE MARCH AND RALLY AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY IN LONG BEACH TO PROTEST THE POLICE ABUSES THROUGHOUT LONG BEACH AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY. WE ARE MARCHING AGAINST THE CONTINUOUS BRUTALITY, MURDER, HARASSMENT, RACIAL PROFILING, AND REPRESSION OF OUR COMMUNITIES. WE ALSO MARCH TO OPPOSE THE TARGETING, SURVEILLANCE AND VIOLATION OF CIVIL RIGHTS OF POLITICAL ACTIVISTS BY LONG BEACH POLICE.

On Saturday, August 3, 2002 the communities of Los Angeles and Long Beach will come together to rise up and have their voices heard. Throughout the United States police brutality has become rampant. In the past few months there have been many instances of police brutality displayed throughout the Los Angeles and Long Beach areas. With the shooting of Marcella Byrd, a 57 yr-old mentally ill african american women to the brutal display of excessive force on 16 yr-old, african american, Donovan Jackson in Inglewood, and to the pollice sweeps and brutalization of homeless in Long Beach, police misconduct continues daily.

The police have tried to repress political dissidence as well by profiling anarchists. Youth wearing black have been harassed, detained, searched, followed, and have had guns pulled on them by police.

WE WILL MARCH TO SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! WE DEMAND SAFE COMMUNITIES FREE FROM POLICE TERROR!

When: Saturday, Aug 3rd

Where: Event will start at park on corner of Pacific and E 14th st, then march will follow to police station located on 1st and Long Beach blvd.
