Artists and performers wanted for a benefit show for the Long Beach Infoshop.

Performers Wanted

for

Benefit Show for the Long Beach Infoshop

bands dancers

performance artists

film, video, and slide artists

solo musicians

makers of noise

poetic terrorists

and

people who hate being categorized

The Long Beach Infoshop is a great resource –

with a library, zine library, tons of books and zines for

sale. They also offer free English and Spanish classes,

various workshops,

and they have a courtyard where bands can play.

It’s a struggle to keep it going, especially because a lot of the

money they fundraise has had to go to support political

prisoners and others who have been harassed since

last year’s Mayday celebration in Long Beach. The infoshop

kids have been doing excellent work supporting activists.

Now it’s time for us to support them and help keep the space

open.

Sometimes even a positive event like a benefit

show can seem closed and exclusive.

People do outreach

to get the bodies down to make money, but not to find

the artists. It’s time to open up

the scene.

You don’t have to label yourself with any

ist’s (as in anarchist) but the show is in the

spirit of freedom and originality and resistance to some of the forces

out there…

sexism, racism, ageism, hierarchy, and cynicism, to name a few.

The infoshop has books and literature and workshops dealing with

All these forces, because they are so oppressive.

And when we fight against these forces, we can really

experience freedom.

Warning: there will be keyboards and trumpets there
