Speak out against police abuse in Costa Mesa! Speak to the City Council, and the Human Relations Committee about Naui's unjust kidnapping, and the mistreatment of other July 4th Nike Town protesters!
Speak out against police abuse in Costa Mesa!
On July 4th, Naui Huitzilopochtli was kidnapped
(falsely arrested) by the Costa Mesa PD, for a crime
he did not commit.
At a peaceful demonstration against sweatshop labor
and corporate abuse at Nike Town, protesters were
attacked by three white males, who shouted racial
slurs, sexually derogatory statements, and threw
objects at them. In response, an unknown person
squirted the men with red paint, and fled the scene.
Naui was falsely arrested for "assault and battery."
Meanwhile, the attackers were allowed to remain free
of any charges. When protesters approached the police to file complaints against the attackers, they were threatened with arrest.
On Monday, July 15, at 6:30 PM, Naui and other
protesters will speak to the Costa Mesa City Council
regarding the incident. Please arrive on time to this
meeting, as public comments are heard at the
beginning.
Also, on Wednesday, July 24, at 7:00 PM, we will speak
to the Costa Mesa Human Relations Committee
regarding the unjust treatment Naui and other
protesters received by the Costa Mesa PD.
Both meetings will take place at 77 Fair Drive, across
the street from the OC Fairgrounds, in Costa Mesa.
The Human Relations meeting takes place in the first
floor conference room of the city hall.
Please keep in mind that the parking situation and
traffic will be really bad, due to the Orange County
Fair, which takes place across the street.
