Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (May 24) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality 13.7MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:55) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired at 7pm PDST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you MIGHT be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/

There are several other streams that work quite well- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm PDST and on Monday at 9am.

Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/

streaming the SWR at Fri 10:30PM/ Sat 10:30AM PM/ Sun 10:30AM PDST

This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands, Spanish National Radio, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Germany- In Berlin, major protests preceded Geo Bush’s visit to the country. Some 250 organizations were represented, and it was the largest police action in Germany since the end of the 2nd world war. Then a European press review, discussing the growing differences between the US and Europe. Britain has withdrawn diplomats, their families and staff from Pakistan, following specific threats and the increasing probability of a war with India.

From Netherlands- India’s Prime Minister Vajpayee, visiting troops on the border with Pakistan, said it is time for a decisive fight and to prepare for casualties. Activists in France blocked the entrance to an Exxon oil refinery, saying Exxon is sabotaging efforts to prevent global warming. A parliamentary committee in Britain has recommended that they adopt a Dutch policy toward drugs. The United Nations Environmental organization says almost a quarter of the world’s mammals are threatened with extinction in the next 30 years.

From Spain- the economic crisis continues in Argentina, where IMF demands for a bailout are not being adhered to. A poll in Peru says President Toledo is trusted less than disgraced former President Fujimori.

From Russia- a commentary on Geo Bush’s recent statements concerning the US relationship with Cuba, following Jimmy Carter’s visit.

From Cuba- According to the official newspaper of Cuba, recent accusations by Geo Bush reveal the extent of influence the Miami Mafia exerts on the President. Bush’s claim that the nuclear weapons reduction agreement with Russia will “liquidate the nuclear legacy of the cold war” is political hype, according to the Washington-based National Resources Defense Council.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.

I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
