Tens of thousands of Germans welcome resident bush as he lands in Berlin (more details on Germany's Indymedia)

Tens of thousands of Germans are at the moment (Wed 22) demonstrating against george w. bush in Berlin and across Germany. Hundreds of organizations and groups have taken to the streets to denounce bush and his so-called "war on terror." One of the first large demonstations was over 25,000 strong, and many other large rallies and marches are expected.

There was a smaller parody march of around 500 people carrying American Flags and signs that read "War Forever!" "NO! Peace Never!" "Make War on the Poor." and "Thank you Mr. President." These marchers are the ones who carried a giant pretzel through the streets (shown above). Also note the very cool poster (unfortunately the top half is cropped out of the photo). It's a parody of a Rambo poster, showing George W. as Rambo, with Ms. Rice and Dick Cheney standing in the background.

Not since the close of the 2nd World War has there been such a large "security" presence in Berlin. Over 10,000 Police have been deployed in and around Germany's capital. Special Police sniper squads are on the rooftops.
