I was just wondering if there are any other actions in the Figueroa Corridor working against the gentrification of this neighborhood besides artists? I'm really interested in this.
thanks,
N.
i think SAJE is addressing gentrification and working actively to stop it-- www.saje.net or better,
http://www.saje.net/figcor/figcor.htm also, they'd know about other groups too, i guess.
Yes, SAJE is working to fight the current crisis of displacement and gentrification in the Figueroa Corridor through the Figueroa Corridor Coalition for Economic Justice. SAJE is the sponsor and home of the Coalition, which is comprised of 30 economic justice, labor, religous, and student groups as well as over 300 local residents. We have currently launched "Better Neighborhoods, Same Neighborhoods," an anti-displacement/anti-gentrification Campaign - please contact organizer Tafarai Bayne at
tafarai@saje.net for more information.
