"Somo Trabajadores - No Terroristas." The translation of the Spanish to English is "We are Workers - not Terrorists."
Look at the folks in the photograph. They are Workers... and a super exploited part of the Working Class at that, immigrant labor. Their immediate struggle is to put food on the table and to cloth their children... but their political vision is far sighted as well.
I was at the march of 10,000. It was composed of working men and women. Families came, Old folks where there too. Mothers pushing their children in baby strollers... an enormous crowd seeking and dreaming of justice, another reality.
For the 10,000 people in the march... who were for the most part, Spanish speaking immigrants, the struggle for justice is not an option... it is a necessity. If as activists, we are not working directly with this community, then we are not really serious about social change.
