REGISTER TO VOTE! Last Day: Tuesday FEB 19. Support PROP 40!

by SavetheTrees Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at 6:05 AM

Of course, the U.S. electoral system is corrupted. Yet, occassionally there's something on the ballot worth supporting that actually has a chance to win. California's Proposition 40, on the March 5th ballot, is one such instance. So, if you're not registered to vote, get to it!; and Vote Yes on Prop 40.

A brief pitch for Prop 40

by SavetheTrees again Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at 6:10 AM

An excerpt from www.voteyeson40.org:

Why Californians Support Proposition 40

Proposition 40 will improve our health, economy and quality of life by providing funding to protect California's air, water and coastlands from pollution, by improving our neighborhood parks and making them safer, and by preserving the state's open spaces and other natural resources. Proposition 40 is supported by a broad and diverse coalition of Californians including the American Lung Association of California, AARP, California Organization of Police and Sheriffs, National Wildlife Federation, Veterans of Foreign Wars, California Chamber of Commerce, California Labor Federation AFL-CIO, National Coalition of Hispanic Organizations, The Nature Conservancy, California Black Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

chance to win?

by inmate of society Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at 8:36 AM

wealth governs this country, and the upper class will do whatever is necessary to sustain those policies. america is a plutocracy, there's no way in hell anything that someone even remotely FOR the people has a chance of wining within this "electoral" system. Even if they did, they'd would be knocked out by the fatcats and their CIA covert operatives. Wealth governs this country, thus wealth dominates all aspects of this country. Political and social. Through war and corruption. Confliction and depresion. Death and Slavery. This is why I do not "vote", because I refuse to support a plutocracy; I refuse to support a system of injustice. Real change can only come about through revolution, and that comes from the community. From the people. Not from some fake-ass ballot poll. What we need to do is start building a DIRECT democracy instead of continuesly crossing our fingers as we try to work with a corrupt, fake ass representive "democracy".

I can register on-line! For what-to "participate" in a corrupt plutocracy? Like Inmate of Society said-wealth governs this empire:money uber alles. Nothing-not us, not this planet we live on-else matters.

Direct Democracy or death-that is our real choice!
