Mark this is an excellent piece! I will go further in saying that it is
essential that blacks have an equal voice on the committee
that sets policy at the station. Unless AND UNTIL this is accomplished the
station will be like the titanic AFTER it hit the iceberg- just waiting to
sink! Many of us realize the failings of our society and we are trying to
attain a REAL democracy. If we are sincere we must start by practicing it at
KPFK like RIGHT NOW or admit to hypocrisy! To assure that the station
is on solid ground the position of manager should be rotated month by month
starting with a known left wing BLACK followed by a left wing latino then a
left wing oriental and then a similar white. This rotation will give
minorities the edge that WE all need to keep the station strong! Star's
performance so far shows tragic weaknesses and the sooner we go to something
like what I suggested the better!
just a little info. oriental is a work that is used to refer to an inamiate object, such as a rug or form of potery. Asian would be the appropriet word. Please overlook all spelling mistakes. Hooked on Phonics did not work for me.
