A fifteen city Taco Bell Truth Tour caravan, leaving from Florida in a few weeks, will culminate here in Southern California in a mass rally at the fast food's corporate headquarters in Irvine March 11.
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), a large
coalition of tomato pickers in Florida, are demanding that Taco Bell increase their per pound payment for tomatoes so that workers can provide a dignified life for their families.
The March 11 mobilization in Irvine is expected to attract thousands of supporters and demonstrators.
The final, "late-push" rally and planning meeting in Los Angeles will be Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 pm at CARECEN, 2845 West 7th Street near the corner
of West 7th and Hoover. CIW farm workers will be at the meeting.
The gathering place for the March 11 mobilization is at Santa Ana Memorial Park in Santa Ana, at the corner
of Flower and Anahurst at 9:30 a.m.
For more information in Los Angeles call 213-353-1333, extension 244. A series of events is planned while the large delegation of Florida farm workers are in Southern California.
