Dolores Huerta, the legendary co-founder of the UFW, came out to protest the BANNING of Fidel Rodriguez and his "Seditious Beats" radio show. Ms. Huerta carried a sign that read "Seditious Beats Rocks! Schubb Stinks!" (a
reference to KPFK station manager Marc Schubb). Ms. Huerta later addressed the crowd of protestors, telling them that she "supports Hip Hop as the voice of today's young people." Huerta emphasized the importance of taking back KPFK so that it truly serve the needs of the people. She further noted that the U.S. Government is today "bombing Afghanistan for 'democracy' while we are loosing our democratic rights here at home."
The presence of Dolores Huerta at the protest was the perfect illustration of what has gone wrong at KPFK and Pacifica Radio. Here was this amazing Women... a strong leader in the Chicano/Mexicano community... a co-founder
of one of this country's most celebrated Unions (for goodness sake, there is even a street in L.A. named after Cesar Chavez)... and she's standing outside of KPFK with a protest sign because the station has FIRED or BANNED
nearly all of it non-White programmers who hold progressive political views! Call or e-mail KPFK's General Manager, Mark Schubb... and demand that "Seditious Beats" be put back on the air! GM@kpfk.org (818 985-2711 Ext: 503)
