Come to the "A Taste of Justice" Conference this Saturday, Nov. 3rd. Diet related diseases such as diabetes and obesity are reaching epidemic proportions in low-income communities in Los Angeles. Come work together with other Los Angeles residents to solve this and other problems.
The Center for Food and Justice (a project of the Urban and Environmental
Policy Institute at Occidental College) invites you to attend the "A Taste
of Justice" conference this Saturday, November 3rd. The conference will
bring together community members, food and nutrition activists and
organizations, and members of city government to strategize around food
policy in Los Angeles. The conference will focus on the following issues:
-Healthy food, gardens, and nutrition education policy in the Los Angeles
Unified School District
-Supporting existing community gardens in LA and finding ways to start more
-Bringing farmer's markets and full-service supermarkets to low-income
communities of color
-A citywide food and nutrition policy council
The conference is intended to be an example of community based policy
making. All are invited to participate. Come down and raise your voice to help
create a more fair and equitable food system in Los Angeles.
