An ex-British army tank commander, who saw service in Northern Ireland and other countries, carried out a naked protest against the war in Afghanistan today, Sunday 28th October 2001. He called the press to witness his protest while he walked around Manchester's crowded St Ann's square, much to the amusement and appreciation of the general public. After protesting in the nude for 30 minutes carrying a placard reading:"This is a war of rich and poor", he called the police himself and told them "there is a naked man walking around St Ann's Square!" He was later arrested while talking to the press to loud applause from the crowds watching. He vows to repeat thr protest as soon as he is relaeased from jail until the war ends. Watch all of this on video posted to this site.
I join the applause of the crowd, and will keep my eyes peeled for his next protest. Actions speak louder...Good job, I commend you (if not for your convictions), for the courage to stand up and be heard.
