Over 170 people attended a rally and candlelight vigil in downtown San Diego October 7 to protest the first day of U.S. bombing raids against Afghanistan as revenge for the attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. September 11. The San Diego Coalition for Peace and Justice, which organized the protest, considered the turnout excellent, especially for an emergency alert on short notice.
