A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files (broadcast quality 13.6MB) streaming/quick 3.4MB. Times and freqs for listening at home. Radio Netherlands, Germany, Russia, and Cuba. Free to rebroadcast

The latest Shortwave Report (September 28) is up on the web at http://www.outfarpress.com in both broadcast quality (13.6MB/29:50) and quick download and streaming formats (3.4MB). It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you air it, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen, try the streaming version, lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection.

This edition features Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Netherlands- an update on the huge number of airline stocks bought "short" in the days before 9/11; a nuclear reactor accident in Brazil is covered up for 4 months; Iran will not help with the US anti-terrorism crusade; the UN Sec General describes recent Israeli actions as "provocative"; an Israeli peace activist describes how much the US has underestimated world resentment over its treatment of Iraq and walking out on the UN conference on racism.

From Germany- a Hamburg professor questions the equating of Islam and terrorism; European attitudes are rapidly changing in the wake of 9/11, with the Italian President equating Islamic terrorists with anti-globalization activists.

From Russia- Condalecia Rice says the US needs no UN authorization to retaliate for the 9/11 attack, and VOR responds.

From Cuba- the LA Times expresses concern for the hundreds of Arabs rounded up after the attacks; Saul Landau writes an essay called "Harboring Terrorists- Our Own List Is Long"; a Viewpoint on how Peace has become a dirty word and insult to the traumatized people in the US.

All this plus times and frequencies for listening globally at home. I hope you'll listen to this program and broadcast it if you are in that position. I'm still seeking a no-strings-attached funder, and I appreciate the ideas and encouragement I gotten from a few of you. I'd love to hear any comments you might have about any of this.
