Five weeks ago the KPFK Listeners' Forum appeared on the internet at: http://disc.server.com/Indices/165346.html The KPFK forum is one of five forums provided for listeners to all of the Pacifica stations: KPFK in Los Angeles; KPFA in Berkeley; WBAI in New York; WPFW in Washington and KPFT in Houston.

The forums were created by WBAI listener, Frank Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald first created the WBAI forum as a way for New York listeners to respond a shake up at WBAI at the end of last year that resulted in the firing and banning of some of WBAI's most talented reporters and producers.

The WBAI board is widely used. It was on that message board that Steve Yasko resigned as Pacifica's National Program Director.

KPFK listeners use this new resource to inform other listeners about station issues that are not neccessarily discussed on KPFK's airwaves.

Of particular concern is the status of the popular public affairs/news show Democracy Now! ~ Although Amy Goodman and the Democracy Now! team continue to produce new editions of the show, only reruns have been broadcast on KPFK's airwaves. In LA, the only way to listen to the current editions of the show is by way of the internet. Pacifica's Berkeley station, KPFK broadcasts new editions of Democracy Now! Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. The link for audio is:

The message boards are all linked together, and provide a wealth of information and links for all Pacifica listeners.
