This is a sex cult, where people join up, are told to give their material goods over to the cult, and then are made to work their asses off for the cult.
It's a mind control game. Don't fall for the "mystical sex positive eastern philosophy". That's just the story. The reality is poverty and abuse.
Back in the 80's, the Baghwan was notorious for operating a compound in Oregon where he was chaufferd around in Rolls Royces that were purchased with the money that the cult victims gave him.
Needless to say, most of his members were affluent white people with no brains and a thing for the "east".
I did read, though, that the people involved were really hot, and they had great sex.
If you're into sex, just have sex. No need to justify it with some bogus religion.
Everything John says is true. But Rajneesh was also *very* funny. Tapes of his talks were genuinely up to the level of George Carlin. I remember laughing so hard that it hurt. I fell down laughing, I rolled over helplessly on the floor, I was incapacitated with laughter.
But what was *really* wierd was that he was so staunchly anti-authoritarian. It made *ABOLUTELY* no sense for anyone who got the message in his words to follow anyone anywhere. A real mindfuck, to be sure.
so that you don't have to go to the site this is but an example of the ' wisdom' to be found there:
"My understanding is that the way he has lived, man needs every ten
to twelve years -- a war.
He accumulates so much anger, so much rage, so much violence,
that nothing short of a war will give him release. So, war after war,
there is a gap of only ten to fifteen years.
That gap is a kind of relaxation. But again you start accumulating,
because the same psychology is working -- the same jealousy, the
same violence.
And man is basically a hunter; he is not by nature vegetarian.
First he became a hunter, and for thousands of years he was just a
meat-eater, and cannibalism was prevalent everywhere.
To eat human beings caught from the opposing tribe you were
fighting with was perfectly ethical."
Sadly I found nothing about sex.
I got an email that indicated that some people might not have gotten the sexual advantages of joining the cult. I guess the "joke" was on them. Ha ha ha.
I read an article in a sex mag where this guy joins and screws some hot women. Then he goes on about how they use sex as a first step to getting beyond sex. To me, that sounds like a "line" that you could use on Catholic girls, except it is tailored for new agers.
I bet it's just the beautiful people who get to join the sex cult. The rest of them, get the velvet rope treatment, and questionable spiritual enlightenment.
