Sat., Sept. 22 at 2 PM: Peace Vigil

Can Military Intervention and Bombing End Terrorism?

Monday, September 17, was an exciting evening for the San Diego community. Close to 140 people met at the First Church of the Brethren to plan San Diego peace and social justice community's response to the U.S. push for revenge and retaliation in the wake of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

The meeting was called by the Peace Resource Center, Activist San Diego and San Diegans to Stop the Violence Against Iraq.

We are preparing minutes from the evening and will get those out to you ASAP. The minutes will contain information on a variety of initiatives and efforts already taking place that can use your help, our plans and how to make contact with appropriate commitees, etc.!

However, we want you to know a couple of quick things:

1.We are focussing our efforts on these four areas:

Condemn attack of September 11 and mourn the victims.

Stop the War.

Stop racist scapegoating and defend Arab, Muslim and Middle Eastern communities.

Defend civil liberties.

2. There will be a peace vigil on Saturday, September 22, 2 p.m. in front on Horton Plaza, on Broadway, between 3rd and 4th Streets.

3. If the U.S. uses force before Saturday, there will be a demonstration that day at 5 p.m., at the above location.

4. The coalition will meet again on Monday, September 24, 7 p.m., at the First Church of the Brethren, 3850 Westgate Place.
