A 3o minute review of news and opinions recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 versions- broadcast (13.6MB) and streaming(3.4MB). Free to rebroadcast upon notification. With times and freqs for listening at home. Germany, Russia, Spain, Netherlands, Cuba.

The latest Shortwave Report (August 31) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com The broadcast version is (13.6MB/29:44), the quick download and streaming version is (3.4MB/29:50). It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you air it, please give out the website address if you just use portions of it. If you just want to listen and have a slow dial-up modem (like me) try the smaller version, inferior sound quality but all the info is there.

This weeks show has news and opinions from Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, Spanish National Radio, Radio Netherlands, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Germany- a European Press Review focusing on NATO's "Operation Essential Harvest" in Macedonia.

From Russia- a commentary on NATO's actions, questioning who agreed to turn in the armaments, and what percentage will actually be collected.

From Spain- UNICEF has returned to their families more than 3500 children who were being used as soldiers in the war in Sudan. Both Columbia and Mexico, in association with the US DEA, have extradited to the US key figures in cocaine trafficking.

From Netherlands- the Peruvian Congress voted unanimously to charge ex-President Fujimora with murder, for directing death squads, but Japan has no intention of extraditing him. Then an interview with Mary Robinson, UN high commisioner on Human Rights, discussing the agenda of the UN World Conference on Racism, which Colin Powell will not attend.

From Cuba- Israel's assassination of Abu Ali Mustapha earned global condemnation, as did the land occupations that followed. Then a Viewpoint on Colin Powell's excuses for not going to the UN Conference on Racism.

All this plus times and frequencies for listening globally at home. I hope you'll listen to this program and broadcast it if you are in that position. I'm still seeking a no-strings-attached funder. I'd love to here any comments you might have about any of this.
