Both organizations provide magazines about what they do and do not do. Speak with them today! Become informed about the continuing environmental movement and the people who understand the brain, all it's parts and how it can often be helped.
NAMI also takes millions of dollars of drug company money to promote a program of forcible drugging of the "mentally ill". For more information, see:

NAMI also glues together the pages of its publications when the editor dares to write something critical of their pro-psychiatric violence party line. Read about it at:
http://www.mindfreedom.org/mindfreedom/news/010201.shtml
NAMI has also been lobbying the Bush administration to cut off funding for survivor groups who dare to advocate against the use of force against psychiatric patients. More about that, including a direct quote from NAMI's own Web site at:
http://www.mindfreedom.org/mindfreedom/blacklist.shtml
NAMI is engaged in a corporate-funded ideologically-driven crusade to abrogate the basic human right to bodily integrity for anyone unfortunate enough to have a psychiatric diagnosis, and to silence anyone publicly questioning the still-shaky science behind biopsychiatric dogma or criticizing the use of force and violence against people who are already suffering.
They undoubtedly have a great many well-meaning members, but the acts of the NAMI higher-ups are those of servants of corporate authoritarianism.
Fuck that noise.
