The latest edition of the Shortwave Report (July 20) is up at the website ( http://www.outfarpress.com/ ) and ready to download (13.7 MB/29:59). It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you air it. If you only air a portion, please mention the website so your audience can listen to more if they choose.

This week's stories come from Spanish National Radio, Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.

From Spanish National Radio- the Mexican government, under pressure from human rights groups, is opening files on citizens who were politically disappeared; the India/Pakistan summit ended without an agreement, yet was a step forward in relations.

From Radio Netherlands- a former Columbian Ambassador to the E.U. is arrested for forming right-wing paramilitary units; labor unions have called for another strike in Ecuador; and Bush Jr won't impose Helms-Burton sanctions against foreign investors in Cuba.

From Radio Deutsche Welle- a press review of how the press will cover the G-8 summit; a report from Man and Environment on the UN Climate Conference in Bonn, focusing on US college students making a presentation to the Conference.

From the Voice of Russia a commentary on last week's Star Wars Missle test.

From Radio Havana Cuba- Scott Ritter, former UN weapons Inspector in Iraq, says Iraq has been disarmed since 1995, and that since 1998 the UN mission has been a US spy mission; Bush Jr says anti-global protestors are condemning underdeveloped countries to poverty; the NY Times releases a report on the US election results last fall; and a viewpoint on the return of the Sandanista National Liberation Front in Nicaragua.

All these stories plus times and frequencies for English-language broadcasts. I invite your questions and comments, and those of your audience. It's exciting to hear from you.
